Introduction to garage door Hardware(2)

Garage door Hardware are mainly divided into hinges, brackets, rollers, bearings, tracks, springs, torsion spring sets, cable drums and cables, sealing strips, windows, locks, break protection devices, shafts, handles, etc., in addition to garage door panels. , garage door motor, etc.

are an integral part of the garage door system, providing a pathway for the door panels to travel as they open and close.

1.Garage door Track type:
There are two main types of Track shapes. Horizontal Track are also curved Track, vertical Track are also straight Track, and curved Track are Track with elbow parts. There is also a difference between large curves and small curves in curved Track. This is mentioned in double Track. The curvature of the curved Track is R12 and R15, or R300 and R380, one is inches and the other is mm.
The choice of track is mainly based on the door lifting method. For ordinary sliding, it means straight Track with curved Track; for vertical sliding, it is straight Track without curved Track; for improved sliding, it means longer straight Track and more Curved Track. These are single tracks.
There are also some home garage doors that are relatively short, and the distance from the door opening to the roof is not enough, less than 300mm. In this case, only double Track can be used. The so-called double Track are two curved Track, which are divided into large curved Track and small curved Track.
Reinforcing ribs have two heights, 67mm and 85mm. The reinforcing ribs are installed on the door panel to prevent the door panel from bending due to being too long. Generally, doors over 5.5 meters will use reinforcing ribs

2.Garage door Materials:
The track is made of iron and is used on both sides of the door for sliding the door. It rolls inside through rollers. The torsion of the spring drives the door panel up and down. The track is equivalent to a passage.

3. Garage door Track components:
Use of track: The normal track is a three-piece set, which is the track itself, the flag-shaped angle iron, and the curved track connecting the angle iron. Our CH-JA04, but there is a situation where our industrial doors are normally equipped with L track, which is L track, using L-shaped track, flag-shaped angle iron, track connecting angle iron, and the track bracket mentioned before are not needed.

4. Garage door Track thickness:
In terms of track size, garage doors use 2″ tracks and industrial doors use 3″ tracks. The normal thickness of the 2″ track is 1.5mm, and some customers require 1.8mm. The normal thickness of the 3″ track is 2.5mm.
The corresponding numbers are CH-JA04, JA08. Normally equipped with JA04, the length is 552mm. Some customers will need longer ones, such as 41″ long, and angle iron widths have different sizes, such as 25X25, 30X30, 38X38, 40X40 , the thickness is also different, such as 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 2.0mm, 2.2mm. JA04 is normally 38X38X2.2mm, JA08 is 25X25 or 30X30, 40X40

are critical components of a garage door system, playing a central role in counterbalancing the weight of the door and facilitating its smooth operation.

  1. Types of garage door springs:
Garage door springs are mainly torsion springs. Both ends of the torsion spring must be matched with torsion spring sleeves. The size of the torsion spring sleeve corresponds to the inner diameter of the torsion spring. Normally, a door is equipped with one pair of torsion springs, one on the left and one on the left. Some doors that are smaller can use a single spring and one spring.

2. Balance door:
Garage door springs are designed to balance the weight of the door, making it easier to open and close manually or with the help of a garage door opener.
Torsion springs tighten when the door is closed and relax when the door is open, while extension springs stretch and release tension when the door is raised.

3.Spring size and weight grade:
A normal torsion spring has 5 elements, inner diameter, wire diameter, length, material, and surface. The American torsion spring size expression is 207x2x24, which is an imperial expression, and the units are inches. 207 means 0.207 inches, which represents the wire diameter. 2 represents the inner diameter, which means 2″, and 24 represents the length, which means 24″, which is 24×25.4=609.6mm.
The inner diameter of the torsion spring is actually the size of the torsion spring sleeve 1-3/4”, 2”, 2-5/8”, 3-3/4”, 5-1/4”, 6”. The most commonly used is the 2” garage door torsion spring.
The wire diameter can be made according to the needs, basically from 4.8mm to 13mm. The length is determined according to the needs. Cut and install the torsion spring sleeve according to the needs.

4. Spring material
The normal materials are 72B, 82B, and 65MN. Small sizes and small wire diameters are all made of 72B material, large wire diameters are made of 82B material, and wires exceeding 11.5mm are made of 65Mn material.

The surface of torsion springs is divided into black torsion springs and galvanized torsion springs. Black means that the original color is oil-immersed, and galvanized means that the surface needs to be galvanized.

The material of the torsion spring sleeve is aluminum, and the process is aluminum die-casting. There is no special surface treatment, it is polished and deburred. Normally, one spring uses one pair of torsion spring sleeves. One pair of torsion spring sets is a fixed cone, and the other is a movable cone , which are painted red and black to distinguish them. Sometimes torsion spring sets can also be sold as a SET. A SET is actually two pairs of torsion spring sets used on one pair of springs.

are crucial components in the operation of overhead garage doors. They work together to provide support, balance, and controlled movement for the door.

1.Garage doors cables and cable drums function:
Garage door cables are strong, steel or metal ropes that lift and lower the garage door. They are an integral part of the counterbalance system and work in conjunction with springs and cable drums to support the weight of the door.

2.Garage doors cables and cable drums materials:
The material of the cable drum is aluminum, and the process is aluminum die-casting. According to the different lifting methods, it is divided into cable drums for ordinary sliding lifts, cable drums for vertical lifting, and cable drums for improved sliding lifts.

3.Garage doors cables and cable drums types and match:
The cable drums for ordinary slides are usually 8”, 12”, 13”, 18”, 32”, those for improved slides are 54”, 120”, 164”, and those for vertical lifts are 11”, 18”, 28”. These sample brochures are available. The cable trays for a door are related to the door height. Generally, doors over 2.4 meters use 8-inch cable trays, doors between 2.5-3 meters use 12-inch cable trays, and doors 3.1-3 meters long use 12-inch cable trays. 5.4m high door with 18cm cable tray
European-style cable trays are also divided into 2 screw holes and 3 screw holes. What we make now are basically 2 screw holes, and 3 screw holes are rarely used.
The cable is calculated based on the door height, and the cable length is the door height + 500mm. The normal specification of the cable is 7X7X length or 7X19X length, which means 7mm thick steel wire, which is composed of 7 or 19 strands of thin steel wire. The length can be customized according to needs.

Generally speaking, larger cable drums require thicker cables. NL-8 is equipped with 3mm steel wire rope, NL-12 is equipped with 3mm or 4mm steel wire rope, and NL-18 is equipped with 4mm or 5mm steel wire rope.
The unit price of wire ropes with different diameters is different, and the aluminum sleeve and processing costs of the wire rope are also added.
